Two Girls, Unidentified Photo

These two young girls lived in Stanly County, North Carolina. From the looks of their dress, the Mary Jane shoes and flapper style hats, this picture was made in the latter 1920's, and possibly into the early 1930's. Judging their ages to be young teenagers, this puts them being born in the 'teens' of the 1900's, maybe between 1910 and 1915.

The fence behind them seems to be blocking off some sort of shoot or slide, probably used for farming, possibly hay or cotton. A shed or barn can be seen in the background on the left side of the picture.

The resemblance between these young ladies suggest they were sisters, with the one on the right being the oldest. The picture belongs to a relative and these young ladies were likely members of the Whitley, Hooks, Aldridge or McSwain families of Stanly County.

If you have seen this picture or other pictures of these young ladies and might know who they are, please contact me. One of them might be your grandmother or great-grandmother or aunt. Or, if you can identify the location by the machinery in the background.

Thankyou,

Tammie
